The Anglo-Zulu War was a terrible war of conquest that resulted in great slaughter, (on both sides), and the near destruction of the Zulu people's way of life.
I
can vividly remember being a child and watching the 1979 movie, Zulu
Dawn. Sitting on the floor in the family home's lounge room and being
fascinated by the events unfolding on the television before my young
eyes.
A couple of years later I happened across a book of the
movie, written by Cy Endfield, and convincing my mother to purchase it
for me. Zulu Dawn became the first book I ever read, (by choice), and so
began my lifelong interest in historical non-fiction.
I have
since read many books on the battles and politics involved in the
Anglo-Zulu war. An horrific yet fascinating time in history.
